Overview: In California every local education agency (LEA) is required to belong to a Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA). The SELPA is a consortia of LEAs responsible for the development of special education policies and procedures, distribution of federal and state special education funds, and providing a range of professional development pertaining to special education.

The Charter SELPA dashboard compiles the Charter SELPA special education pupil count data, program information, and income/expense data into a context so it is a useful monitoring tool for the Charter SELPA and its members. National Report

The National Center for Special Education in Charter Schools recently published a report entitled “Improving Access and Creating Exceptional Opportunities for Students with Disabilities in Public Charter Schools.”  The report highlights the positive impact charter schools have had on student achievement and suggests actions to increase access to exceptional schools for all students.  The report specifically highlights the best practices of The El Dorado County Charter SELPA and the work of our partners Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) network of schools and The Seneca Family of Agencies.
